i have a serious problem. I'm using windows xp home and these popups from adsever, http://ads1.revenue.net/ and ww.800.com casino something or the other. i also saw a toolbar on my browser that i didnt install. the first time this happened one scan with norton did the trick, now norton does bupkis... anyway i was on the HIJACK THIS page that you guys have the registry stuff you guys put up is greek to me, i'm computer literate, but only at the A+ level. i downloaded the software but it only finds some of the stuff, when i click remove it just brings me to a page asking for money, (i dont have a credit card, i dont even live in the US, i live on a small island off venezuela) i just want this stuff gone... Oh yeah, by the way i saw eliteolh in my startup when i ran msconfig, everytime i tell it not to start up with the rest of programs it just creates a new startup thread and starts up anyway. i searched for elite in my registry and i deleted all the values but the elite thin in mys startup still comes back (yes i did have elite toolbar - i didnt download it then either) i dont know where this stuff is coming from and i really dont care, all i want to do is delete it and be on with my life. There are also some other things in my start up that look like chinese, since i dont know chinese i undid that to but apparently it's just a stubborn. Clear precise information is needed on a lower level of pc understanding is needed :tazz: ;) :)

Howdy and welcome to G2G:

Please go to the malware forum in my signature and follow the instructions at the top....Especially the CLICK HERE .

That will give you several steps that will help you clean up 70 percent of all problems by yourself. If at the end of the process you are still having difficulty--and you may not be-- then post a hijackthis log in THAT forum.

If you are still having problems after getting a clean bill of health from the malware expert, please return to this thread.
