Okay, let's try this again, after I stupidly killed this window while typing it last time...

My computer has a weird little thing going on, and I can't figure it out. It's playing a soft, almost inaudible beep when I maximize or minimize a window. Here's the thing: There are no sounds associated with this event. I generally rig my computer to run silently, because I don't like it talking to me.

AVG runs and updates daily, so no viruses. I've run spybot and adaware to no avail. Nothing!

When I turn up the speakers, I hear some weird background noise that normally isn't there. When I first heard it, I killed everything and rebooted, and it stopped for a while, but now it's back. In addition, I've got some new processes I'm unfamiliar with. Here's my hijack this log, while I'm running adaware AGAIN.

And yes, I'm aware I need to update Windows. I'm buying a new harddrive, so I'm not concerned with that right now. right now, I want the sounds to STOP.

We can definitely help you, but first you need to help us. The first step in this process is to apply Service Pack 1a for Windows XP. Without this update, you're wide open to re-infection, and we're both just wasting our time.

Hello!

If this is a spyware issue, it will be directl related with your current harddrive. We need you to have at least SP1a on your computer to prevent you from getting reinfected.
