Download CWShredder from http://www.intermute...r_download.html
Don't use it yet.

Download the Backdoor.Agent.B Removal Tool from Symantec.
- Follow Symantec's instructions for how to run it.
- Be sure to save the log file. I will need to see it later.
- Restart your computer.

- Now run CWShredder before you open any IE windows. Be sure to click Fix as opposed to Scan Only. It should find some things and remove them.
- Restart your computer once more.
- Post a new HijackThis log and the log Symantec's tool gave you.

Pieter

Good. Stage 1 completed.

On to number 2.

Check the following items in HijackThis.
Close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Kernel32] C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\Kernel.dll

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [C:\WINDOWS\IPCFG.EXE] C:\WINDOWS\IPCFG.EXE
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [C:\WINDOWS\SCANDS32.EXE] C:\WINDOWS\SCANDS32.EXE

O15 - Trusted Zone: *.topconverting.com
O15 - Trusted Zone: *.crazywinnings.com
O15 - Trusted Zone: *.ysbweb.com
O15 - Trusted Zone: *.slotchbar.com

Reboot after doing so, preferably into safe mode and delete:
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\Kernel.dll
C:\WINDOWS\IPCFG.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\SCANDS32.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\twink64.exe

Reboot normally and post a new log please.

Hi Pieter,

That seems to have done the trick. I could not find the file C:\WINDOWS\SCANDS32.EXE. The pop-ups have disapperaed and the system does not try to connect automatically to the net. Any further checks you recommend? Thanks for the help.
