Spy Sheriff and ANNOYING Warning sign [RESOLVED]

I've been reading you logs for the past 3 days and I've gone thru a LOT of the steps to clean my system. I THOUGHT I had them all but I continue to get a yellow warning sign in my taskbar (right hand side) that flashes and tells me I have a virus. I also have a black screen on the desktop. It SAYS I have it set to my wallpaper in screen properties BUT it's black, no picture.

Here's what I've done:

- Ran CWShredder
- Ran CleanUp
- Ran Panda Active Scan
- Ran ewido
- Ran Ad-aware SE

Than rebooted in Safe Mode and ran ewido AND ad-aware again. Tried to run Smit.exe but couldn't get to the file in Safe Mode so I ran that program after I rebooted my system.

Also ran Counter Spy and Norton AntiVirus. Both said my system was clean.

Welcome to GTG.

Download smitRem at http://noahdfear.gee.../click.php?id=1 and save the file to your desktop.

Please download Ewido Security Suite at http://www.ewido.net/en/download/ and read the Ewido setup instructions at http://rstones12.gee.../ewidosetup.htm. Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

If you have not already installed Ad-Aware SE 1.06, follow the download and setup instructions at http://rstones12.gee...areSE_setup.htm. Otherwise, check for updates. Don't run it yet!

Restart your computer and boot into Safe Mode by hitting the F8 key repeatedly until a menu shows up (and choose Safe Mode from the list). In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work.

Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any):

Run the smitRem.exe tool you downloaded earlier. Follow the prompts on the screen. Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.

The tool will create a log named smitfiles.txt in the root of your drive, eg: Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with all others requested in your next reply.

Open Ad-aware and do a full scan. Remove all it finds.

Run Ewido:

* Click on scanner.
* Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
* NOTE: During some scans with ewido it is finding cases of false positives.
* You will need to step through the process of cleaning files one-by-one.
* If Ewido detects a file you KNOW to be legitimate, select none as the action.
* Do NOT select 'Perform action on all infections'.
* If you are unsure of any entry found, select none for now.
* When the scan is finished, click the Save report button at the bottom of the screen.
* Save the report to your desktop.

Close Ewido.

Next go to Control Panel->Display->Desktop->Customize Desktop->Web-> Uncheck 'Security Info' if present.

Reboot back into Windows and go to http://www.pandasoft...n_principal.htm to do a full system scan. Make sure the autoclean box is checked. Save the scan log.

Post the Panda log here along with the logs for HijackThis, smitfiles.txt and Ewido.

Ran thru the steps and everything seems okay. I didn't post the logs 'cuz they got erased but my system is running clear.

I ran Hijack This. Checked all the boxes you advised me to check. Click "Fix checked items" and after a few minutes I ran the scan again and they're STILL there. (I did this 3 times!) Here's the last log I ran - still showing the infected files. :tazz:

Download LSPFix http://www.greyknigh.../spy/LSPFix.exe and run it. Click on newdotnet6_38.dll on the left window and click on the arrow pointing to the right. Click Finish and follow the prompts.

Uninstall New.Net via the Add/Remove panel if listed.

Delete this folder if found:
c:\program files\newdotnet\

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should 'not' have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Go to Start->Run and type in regedit and hit OK. Go to File->Export and save the registry somewhere as a backup. Close the Registry Editor now. Go to Start->Run and type in notepad and hit OK. Then copy and paste the following into Notepad:

I ran the LSPFix.exe and the file newdotnet6_38.dll was on the RIGHT side of the windows already. I clicked the finish button anyway.

No New.Net in the Add/Remove panel. No folder under c:\program files\newdotnet.

Copied & Pasted the registry info. Ran Hijack This and clicked the 4 BHO lines. Restarted and their STILL there! Jeez! Here's the log:

Download Registrar Lite http://www.resplende...oad/reglite.exe and install it.

Copy and paste the follow text into the address bar and hit Go:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Ext\Stats\

In the pane on the right are the values associated with that key. We want to remove these:

{107F48B1-4B4F-14CC-D96E-1E2201FC6CAA}
{5FAB325A-8368-78A2-9528-B9C7AEE756DD}
{76E4DCAB-D0C5-A7BD-05AD-3BAA3F100409}
{8A01C496-5DCD-9315-0C87-30F666FA57EF}

Then go back up and paste this into the address bar and hit Go:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Currentversion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\

If any of these give you problems deleting, right click on them and go into the Security/Permission settings and change them accordingly.

Check and fix these in HijackThis if they are still there:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {5FAB325A-8368-78A2-9528-B9C7AEE756DD} - (no file)

Restart and run a new HijackThis scan. Are they still there? If not:

Your log is clean.

Deleted the 1st set of files under Current Version\Ext\Stats.

Deleted the 2nd set of files under Current Version\Explorer\Browser Help Objects.

3rd set of files wasn't there under CLSID.

Ran Hijack This and they were gone! Hallelujah! :tazz:
