Computer slower after malware check

Followed all the steps under "Do you suspect a malware (Spyware, Virus, Trojan) infection? Please Start Here" all the way to Window updates and reboot. Computer is running worse and my Outlook Express is gone! Downloaded Hijackthis but can't unzip. Any help would be greatly appriciated.
