dsdmo.dll is one of the components of DirectX.
Ur WinXp Setup disk may be damaged.
Get a replacment from M$.

Howdy and welcome to G2G:

What model of packard bell legend is it??

Did you run the upgrade advisor to check if the system could even handle XP before you tried installing XP??

G'day Murray , and yes it does handle windows XP

The packard bell computers , come with an autorestore feature , that feature was eliminated due that it didn't work

so im trying now to restore it with the windows xp Sp1 cd , and i even tried with windows xp sp2 cd.

The model is an i-extreme SL 528 cinema

That error usually means a hardware problem of some sort..

What are you running for a video and sound card (integrated or separate cards)??

Shouldn't be but you could download the hard-drive manufacturers diagnostics tool, put it on a floppy and boot the system using that.. It will check the hdd and flag any problems with it..
