I don't have proof of spyferret's dark grey nature, but I was just hit by the trojan.smitfraud.c after trying a lot of "trial scan only, send us $ to remove" apps I came across Post #4 of Thread > Trojan-Spy.HTML.Smitfraud.C, need help

The proceedure seems to have worked well aside from a minor issue of the Cleanup! "start cleanup" button being off the sceen in safe mode (I deviated from the exact procedure and waited until I booted into normal mode, but the enter key will start Cleanup by default if you want to run it in Safe modes low rez.

Two apps I tried before doing this are worth mentioning.
One, "Noadware" is what I would term "light grey" in the sense that it will identify but not clean a system unless you pay.
I would say it is worth running if you have no idea what your problem is but definite on the low end of useability.
The second, Spyferret I would term dark grey. I suspect it is falsely identifying or even worse actually adding malware.
After cleaning according Perculator's procedure, I tried running Spyferret, and then adaware.
Mere suspicion is now wariness after Adaware found new malware.
I removed spyferret from my system.
