First of all, let me just say that I have never posted here before. However, I have browsed this site numerous times (to search for tips on computer issues), and I've never failed to be impressed by how friendly and knowledgeable everyone is. That's so cool. ..and makes me feel comfortable about posting.
I will give you a quick run-down of my problem (which may seem very minor in comparison to others). I just upgraded AOL 8 to AOL 8 PLUS! because my computer kept freezing, lately, everytime I'd browse. Reinstallation got rid of the crashing problem, but now I notice that nearly every time I shut AOL down, it locks up and I can't use the file menu to log off. Typing crtl, alt and del tells me that AOL is not responding and I notice that the file "rnaapp" is also in the task menu. If I delete it, I get an error message that, then, logs me totally out of AOL, but causes IE not to work. In fact, I get a message to that effect.
Often when I shut down since installling AOL 8 PLUS!, I'll get a message saying that files are being updated and installed and to wait..then after updating, AOL will just log off on its own..but half the time it doesn't and will just lock, and I'll have to do ctrl, alt and del to get out of AOL. I just did so, recently, and tried to log back in again, and was able to successfully do so. However, a few times prior to that, I could not log back in because I'd receive a message saying that IE would have to shut down (something to that effect), due to an error. Oh!..the error messages have to do with an invalid page default.
I'm so sorry this message is so long. I was just wondering if someone here had any idea of what might be causing this problem? I do disk scans, clean-ups, defrags and spyware checks often to try and keep my system running smoothly (especially if I'm having a problem), but I'm certainly no techie! However, I learn things all the time from the expertise of people like you and would appreciate your input on something like this (trivial as it may seem).
Thank you all so much, in advance, for your time.
Hugs,
Jo
