Hey guys,

When i load windows xp after i've logged in, i get the following message:

Explorer.exe - Application Error

This application failed to intilize properly (0x0000005). Click on Ok to terminate application.

It then loads without any startup icons or start bar, just my wallpaper appears. I can access things through task manager but not everything works.

Please help

First lets check the integrity of explorer.exe. Follow the steps below:
Start->Run. Type cmd. Press Enter.
In the Command-Prompt Window, type sfc /SCANONCE. Press Enter.
Follow the instructions by the System File Checker.
(Note:The scan will done on next reboot, so u will be prompted for a reboot.)

Hi, have done that and it says 'the specific error code is 0x000006ba [The RPC server is unavailable]

Any other ideas?

Lets check whether the RPC service is on, follow the steps below:
Open Task Manager (Ctrl+Alt+Del). Click on Applications Tab. Click File->New Task (run..).
Type services.msc. Press enter.
In the Services window, check whether "Remote Procedure Call (RPC)" has status as Started and its Startup Type is Automatic.

When explorer.exe is entered it says application error - This application failed to intialize properly (0xc0000005). Click OK to terminate the application.

U seem to have a trojan.
Please go to the malware forum and follow the instructions at the top....Especially the CLICK HERE .

That will give you several steps that will help you clean up 70 percent of all problems by yourself. If at the end of the process you are still having difficulty--and you may not be-- then post a hijackthis log in THAT forum.

If you are still having problems after getting a clean bill of health from the malware expert, please return to this thread.
