My PC was pretty much sluggish so i followed your "user's guide" topic and downloaded all the programs and followed the instructions. i even downloaded adwarealert and registered it. MY PC is faster now. But After cleaning it i started gettin these annoying pop-ups. No matter what i scan my pc with, its no use. I saw the hijackthis log and there's a bunch of things attached to internet explorer, i just don't want to mess with the wrong thing, so im asking for your help.... let me know if you need anything else other than my hijackthis log file... thank you... Moe

Hello and welcome!

Please print these instructions out, or write them down, as you can't read them during the fix.

Please download Ewido Security Suite it is a free version of the program.
  • Install Ewido Security Suite
  • When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck..
    • Install background guard
    • Install scan via context menu
  • Launch Ewido, there should be an icon on your desktop, double-click it.
  • The program will now open to the main screen.
  • When you run Ewido for the first time, you will get a warning "Database could not be found!" Click OK. We will fix this in a moment.
  • You will need to update Ewido to the latest definition files.
    • On the left hand side of the main screen click update.
    • Then click on Start Update.
  • The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
    (the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful")
  • Exit Ewido. DO NOT run a scan yet.
If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update Ewido.
ewido manual updates

Download CleanUp
Install the program, dont run it yet, we will later.

If you have not already installed Ad-Aware SE 1.06, follow these download and setup instructions, otherwise, check for updates:
Ad-Aware SE Setup
Don't run it yet!

Please download APT and unzip the contents to a new folder on your desktop.
  • Open the folder you just created and click on apt.exe and search in the window for jyaiyfc.exe.
  • Open your C:\Windows\system32 folder and search for c:\windows\system32\jyaiyfc.exe.
    Don't delete it yet, just leave the system32 folder open so you can see the bad file.
  • In APT again, Select jyaiyfc.exe and Click Kill3
  • Then immediately delete c:\windows\system32\jyaiyfc.exe from your system32 folder.
Close APT.

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following;

1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

Launch Ad-Aware SE and click on the gear to access the Configuration menu. Please make sure that this setting is applied;

Click on Tweak => Cleaning engine => UNcheck "Always try to unload modules before deletion". Click on "Finish". Run a Full System Scan, remove all it finds.

Now open Ewido and do a scan of your system.
  • Click on scanner
  • Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
  • Clean anything it finds.
  • Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report
  • Click Save report.
  • Save the report .txt file to your desktop or a location where you can find it easily.
Close Ewido.

Run a scan with HiJackThis and check the following objects for removal;

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [gsgxzq] c:\windows\system32\jyaiyfc.exe r
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AdwareAlert] C:\Program Files\AdwareAlert\adwarealert.Exe -boot

Close any other open windows and make sure these objects are checked. Hit "Fix Checked".

Exit HiJackThis.

Go to -> Start -> Control Panel -> Add/Remove programs and uninstall the following entry if present;

AdwareAlert (Rogue application, not trusted/recommended to use, see more here; http://www.spywarewa...nti-spyware.htm )

Now, using Windows Explorer, locate the following files/folders and delete if present;

C:\WINDOWS\AuroraHandler.dll
C:\Program Files\Windrv\Util\ILMBF7GS.dll
C:\WINDOWS\msresearch.exe
c:\windows\system32\jyaiyfc.exe
C:\Program Files\AdwareAlert\

Now run the CleanUp program:

*IMPORTANT NOTE*
CleanUp deletes EVERYTHING out of your temp/temporary folders, it does not make backups.
If you have any documents or programs that are saved in any Temporary Folders, please make a backup of these before running CleanUp

Running CleanUp
  • Start CleanUp by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu).
  • When CleanUp starts go to the Options button (right side of CleanUp screen)
  • Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!"
  • Now place a checkmark next to the following (Make sure nothing else is checked!):
    • Delete Cookies
      This is optional, if you leave the box checked it will remove all of your cookies, at this point removing cookies is a good idea
    • Empty Recycle Bins
    • Delete Prefetch files
    • Cleanup! All Users
  • Click OK
  • Then click on the CleanUp button. This will take a short while, let it do its thing.
  • When asked to reboot system select No
  • Close CleanUp
Finally, restart your computer back into Normal Mode and please post a new HJT log, as well as the ewido report log from the Ewido scan by using Add Reply

Ok, I just noticed you don't have it's process running.. Which is exceptional :tazz:

Try if you can find this file then;

c:\windows\system32\jyaiyfc.exe ??

If you can't, skip the APT - step of the process..

Ok, just skip that step. We'll handle that after you have posted the logs and carried out the rest of the instructions.

Ey i restarted in Safe Mode and followed the steps, except that Ad-Aware SE wouldn't start up in Safe Mode, so i skipped that part. I've run it extensively in normal mode prior to starting this post thread though. (Also, I only found msresearch.exe and .dat and the AdwareAlert folder, which i deleted... thought you'd wanna know) Anyway this is what my Logs look like.... Thanks Again...

Looks perfect!

Ok, let's continue.

  • Click "Next", read the agreement, Click "Next"
  • Choose "Custom" click "Next".
  • Leave the default installation directoy as it is, then click "Next".
  • UNcheck "Run SpySweeper at Windows Startup" and "Add Sweep for Spyware to Windows Explorer Context Menu". Click "Next".
  • On the following screen you can leave the e-mail address field blank, if you wish. Click "Next".
  • Finally, click "Install"
  • Once the program is installed, it will open.
  • It will prompt you to update to the latest definitions, click Yes.
Disable SpySweeper Shields
  • Click Shields on the left.
  • Click Internet Explorer and uncheck all items.
  • Click Windows System and uncheck all items.
  • Click Startup Programs and uncheck all items.
  • Once the definitions are installed and shields disabled, exit SpySweeper.
Run CleanUp! but DON'T reboot yet.

Disable System Restore;

1. Click Start > Programs > Accessories > Windows Explorer
2. Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
3. Click the System Restore tab.
4. Check the "Turn off System Restore"

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:

2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

Once in Safe Mode, launch SpySweeper;
  • Click Sweep Now on the left side.
  • Click the Start button.
  • When it's done scanning, click the Next button.
  • Make sure everything has a check next to it, then click the Next button.
  • It will remove all of the items found.
  • Click Session Log in the upper right corner, copy everything in that window.
  • Click the Summary tab and click Finish.
  • Paste the contents of the session log you copied into your next reply.
Now reboot into normal mode.

Enable System Restore;

1. Click Start.
2. Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
3. Click the System Restore tab.
4. Uncheck the "Turn off System Restore" check box.
5. Click Apply, and then click "OK".

System Restore will now be active again. ;) Be sure to set a new restore point.

Run the following online scan;

Ok, can you do the following;

1) Please download the Killbox.
Unzip it to the desktop but do NOT run it yet.

2) Then please reboot into Safe Mode by restarting your computer and pressing F8 as your computer is booting up. Then select the Safe Mode option.

3) Once in Safe Mode, please run Killbox.

4) Select "Delete on Reboot".

5) Open the text file with these instructions in it, and copy the file names below to the clipboard by highlighting them and pressing Control-C:

C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Sskuknwrd.dll

6) Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose "Paste from Clipboard".

7) Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt.

If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run TheKillbox, click here to download and run missingfilesetup.exe. Then try TheKillbox again..

Let the system reboot.

Then do the following;

1. Click Start > Control Panel.

2. Double-click the Java icon (coffee cup) in the control panel. It will say "Java Plug-in" under the icon - please find the update button or tab in that Java control panel. Update your Java, and reboot.

After reboot, go back into the Control Panel and double-click the Java icon.

3. Under Temporary Internet Files, click the Delete Files button.

There are three options on this window to clear the cache - leave ALL 3 checked.
1. Downloaded Applets
2. Downloaded Applications
3. Other Files

4. Click OK on Delete Temporary Files window.
Note: This deletes ALL the Downloaded Applications and Applets from the CACHE.

5. Click OK to leave the Java Control Panel.

Now post me a fresh Panda & HiJackThis logs.
