Spyware infestation [CLOSED]

Hi guys,

My system has been overloaded with spyware. I've run Adaware, Cleanup, Spybot, CWShredder, and a couple of antivirus scans as advised in the 'Read this first' post. However, despite these programs getting rid of a lot of infected files, I still have a dialer asking if I want to make long distance calls and I still have internet explorer windows popping up informing me I've been infected with spyware :tazz:

Can you tell me what these programs are?

Ray2 Server - C:\Softimage\SOFT3D_3.8SP2\mental_ray\bin\ray2server.exe
Aventail Corporation - C:\Program Files\Aventail\Connect\as32svc.exe

While TeaTimer is an excellent tool for the prevention of spyware, it can sometimes prevent HijackThis from fixing certain things.
Please disable TeaTimer for now until you are clean. TeaTimer can be re-activated once your HijackThis log is clean.
  • Open Spybot Search & Destroy.
  • In the Mode menu click "Advanced mode" if not already selected.
  • Choose "Yes" at the Warning prompt.
  • Expand the "Tools" menu.
  • Click "Resident".
  • Uncheck the "Resident "TeaTimer" (Protection of overall system settings) active." box.
  • In the File menu click "Exit" to exit Spybot Search & Destroy

A malicious .DLL file is disrupting the LSP chain on your computer. We need to get rid of it.

1. Please download LSPFix from here.
2. Run the LSPFix.exe that you have just finished downloading.
3. Check the I know what I'm doing box.
4. In the Keep box you should see one or more instances of asdns.dll
5. Select every instance of asdns.dll and move each one to the Remove box by clicking the >> button.
6. When you are done click Finish>>.
7. Reboot and please post a fresh HiJackThis log..

Hi Excal,

Ray2Server is the Softimage raytracing app I think.
Aventail connect is a VPN tool - I've uninstalled it.

Made the fix, now only have three things in lspfix.

Seems to all be working.

Please follow the instructions provided, you may want to print out these instructions and use them as a reference.


Please download ewido security suite it is a trial version of the program.
  • Install ewido security suite
  • When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
  • Launch ewido, there should be an icon on your desktop double-click it.
  • The program will now go to the main screen
You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files.
  • On the left hand side of the main screen click update
  • Then click on Start Update
The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update ewido.

Reboot into safe mode.

Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.
