Ok my old HD out of a computer that bit the dust still works and the only computer available to put in in is an Emachine running WIndows ME...THe old harddrive from the dead comp was running windows XP and im trying to figure out a way to either install both harddrives or just take the harddrive from the emachine and clone it to the other harddrive but in doing so still be able to run ME since XP probably won't work on the Emachine..The HD out of the XP comp is a seagate ATA HD and the one out of the Emachine is a maxtor AT.....I really need some help badly before i take things into my own hands and prolly mess both of them up...Thanks

are you basically just interested in saving the data from the xp machine? if so you should be able to hook it up as a slave and transfer the data over

The XP HD is partioned and 2 are NFTS and 1 is FAT32 i believe so when I do get on ME and have it setup like this only 1 partion shows up and its not the one i need =o/
XP HD is 40gb and the ME HD is 20gb
I would like to copy whatever possible to the 20gb HD since it seems this might be the only one that will work....My AIM is billabongd00d
if anyone is willing to IM me with their support...I would greatly appreciate it

Howdy:

If you want the info from the NTFS partitions, then you are going to have to put that hdd into another XP system..

Whichever system that is will probably have to take over ownership before they can even move them over and then you will have to retake ownership to get them back onto your system..

ok...put both of the hds in the machine and boot from that cd...it's a bootable version of xp that will allow you to get inside of everything without being in your operating system...this should allow you to pull the files from the ntfs patrition over to the other one
