hello everyone and thank you for letting me use these forums.

i've posted in the malware forums now with my hijack this log and other logs asked to perform and i've been given the green light.
no spyware and systems go !

but i still have a problem and have been directed to try here.

this last saturday morning my computer had an error while i was downloading a couple of torrents. (sorry to have to say)

since then my startup is very very slow, i get ahead of the cursor when i type which is all abnormal. it takes longer than normal to open IE or OE or any other program.

the green light flashes green and makes the sound of a program opening but very short about every 2 seconds so when i'm idle, something is trying to do something which was not happening before saturday morning.

i'm completley confused and not sure what's wrong.
norton, adaware, and spyware doctor also say i'm clean.
so i'm not sure what else to say, except i'm not so good with technical issues.

any help would definitly be appreciated.

thanks,

Michael.

Howdy:

Disable (remove the share) all shared files/drives..

Get rid of whatever P2P software you were using to pirate whatever with..

Install a good firewall (Sygate or Zone Alarm) and monitor what may be trying to access the net or your system..

See if that makes any difference..

Control Panel>System>Advanced..

Disable "Simple File Sharing".. Check any other folders, etc for a small hand under them..

Neither do I

How to turn off simple file sharing
To disable simple file sharing, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, and then click My Computer.
2. On the Tools menu, click Folder Options, and then click the View tab.
3. Clear the Use simple file sharing (Recommended) check box.
4. Click OK.
