Hey JR - thanks for your reply. Nope, I've not. Can you tell me how to disable the firewall in SP2? The Linksys router used has a firewall and my aol account provides a firewall. Do I need to disable those? Do I need to disable only while downloading the SP2? or is this a permanent deal where I can have no firewall if I'm using the wireless pcmcia card? Thanks for anything you can help me with!

FOLLOW UP: Did disable firewall. Still no good.Found discussion board at MS - others with same problem - no answers from MS. Roomates Compaq 2175 w/internal wireless capability has no problem. My Compaq 2110 w/wireless card and SP2 do not commune at all. Have spent WEEKS trying to figure this out. I quit. Will uninstall SP2 for 5th time and write off MS. Finding it AMAZING that all attempts to MS/DLINK/Linksys/ Geek squad @ Best Buy -- no-one either knows of this or has any idea of how to work around it. What a waste of good nap time.

Okay - so I did try ONE MORE time. Before uninstalling SP2 I went thru device manager and uninstalled the network card (Dlink). Hooked to router via ethernet cord, downloaded most current driver from Dlink (8/04) even tho Dlink tech support said it would not work, reinserted card. VIOLA! Back in biz and ready to put past 2 months aggravation outta my head. Guess timing and algorithm is what makes the world spin. Am posting this in hopes that any other poor schmuck out there has this same problem.. this will help them not waste THEIR good nap time! Peace.
