What is going on? Is this Win Fixer thing an epidemic right now? I've actually gotten a second customer with Win Fixer. I'm currently running Anti-virus and Anti-spyware scans. I plan on doing the almost all the cleaning processes I was instructed to do in a different post of mine:

I used CWS Shredder and found out it was a Look2Me infection just like my last customer had. I also noticed this customer has nail.exe, which is Aurora. I was able to remove Aurora from my last customer's computer by using ABI Remover. I will do everything I did last time. But just incase it is different, here's my new customer's hijack this log:

l2mfix isn't working. Everything disappears and only the wallpaper on the desktop is visible. Nothing happens, even after 20 minutes. ctrl+alt+delete reveals that the CPU usage is 0%.

I realize y'all are overwhelmed with Winfixer problems, I'm overwhelmed with just 2. I'm gonna just restore this computer, start fresh. My customer agrees with me. That will save you and me time and frustration.

For the record, this customer's computer had 102 viruses, over 900 spyware, and duplicates of her files in different locations. Clean up deleted about 60,000 files. It's time to start fresh and educate her about maintenance.

I would, however, appreciate any advice for protecting the computer so this never happens again. (hopefully) And soon, probably in an hour or so, I will finish with my other customer's computer. I'll get you the results as soon as possible.

Tell me what is going to be Installed as far as Antivirus and Firewall!

I do like the free ones that are out there but if they allready have some sort of Security Suite,then I recommend using whatever they are familiar with!

I think it would be better to leave System Restore on. Especally if they install something that is not digitally signed or something like that. As for anti-virus, Kaspersky is the best I've seen, but it requires a good computer (such as at least 256 MB of ram, 1.5 GHz processor). As for firewall, I would use Zone Alarm

Personally I think as far as free protection goes,AVG is about as good as it gets!

There a few others out there but AVG has the best Reputation!
