Okay.. Well i just bought this new Drive, Mainly For The Soul purpse of Playing dvds. got a new movie along with it too, For Some reason it Lags Every so often during dvd playback, im not real sure what it is. but my guess its the read ahead lagging kicking in and lagging the movie. I know this drive is mainly a dvd burner. but i was wondering if theirs a way to have it read the disc constantly to where the movies wont lag and skip?

The Specs of my drive are here

Hi. It should not do that, and since it is new I would suggest getting support at Liteon involved before you do anything. Maybe the one you got is defective? If you mess with it before you contact them, they may claim you broke it and won't honor the warranty.

Yeah i contacted them Earlier, they wernt much help. told me to rip my dvd to my hd and see if the problem still occured, when i told them it didnt skip on any other dvd player and that the disc was brand new. so i dont think they understood me, so they wouldnt take it back. its already acouple days old now soi guess i could ask circuit city or something, im not sure if warrenties are voided if you install things yourself their

I thought it was a normal thing when the read ahead kicked in?

Installing it yourself won't void the warranty. You could take it back to Circuit City. They may let you exchange it for another one (same unit). Just don't let Liteon off the hook so easy. You bought it new, box version, not OEM. You followed the installation procedures. It doesn't work right. Take another shot at Liteon.

I bought a Mad Dog sound card once at CompUSA. It didn't work. I called Mad Dog tech support and did everything they told me to and it still didn't work. They told me to take it back to CompUSA and exchange it for another one....I did and it worked fine.

If Circuit City will exchange it right now, go for it. If not, don't let Liteon off the hook.
