Hey Gurus!
Here's one for some fun... :)

I've recently installed a new HD for a SONY VIAO desktop which has WINXP home for an OS... only using the Recovery CDs, after what appears to be a successful installation, I get this error on startup:

STOP: c0000218 {Registry File Failure}
The registry cannot load the hive (file): \SystemRoot\System32\Config\DEFAULT or its log or alternative.
It is corrupt, absent, or not writable.

What can I do? All the help I've found talks about using the recovery console to rename some SOFTWARE or SYSTEM file which might have gotten corrupted... only, this is a NEW install... so they aren't backups of some GOOD startup.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.. I'm in a PANIC here! :)
THANKS ALL!!!

Cheers! :tazz:
