Windows XP won't shutdown

When trying to shutdown my computer I am getting waol.exe end program, explorer.exe not responding, connection tray end program. I just recently did windows xp updates and this seems to have started the problem. I also get cAAp ending program also on shutdown. Can you help me with this problem?
