Hi there - really really need some help.

For the past week or so I have had a start up message of Smitfraud - which I have seen described on some of your postings.

I wish I'd looked here earlier as I may not have got to this stage.

I tried running my Spyware and Anti-Virus Software which told me that the virus would be deleted by rebooting.

I rebooted my system and now it just brings up the same error message but does not even start running Windows at all.

I am running Windows 98 on that machine (it is a second machine but has some data I could do with recovering).

When I control+alt+delete it tells me that the only things running are 'msdtcw' and 'Pcciomon'.

I have reached the level of my capability.

Am wondering about taking it in to a local PC fixer but don't want to spend money I don't have on a system which I don't really use if I can prevent it at all.

Please can anyone help this damsel in distress.
