For the past week my norton had been telling me that there was a virus on my computer. The prompt was telling me it was a download trojan. For a while norton was saying that it was automatically deleted. After a while it started saying could not repair file. I know there are a lot of people who say norton sucks...but I have never had a problem with it before. I started trying to hunt the trojan down using numerous spyware and trojan removers. Nothing could find the virus. Followed norton help site instructions, and started comp in safe mode and scanned. Nothing worked. Finally scanned computer with hijack this 1.99. While I am no computer expert by any means, I saw while reviewing the logs that there were three categories that did not belong to any program. If I rememberr right they said no owner or something to that effect. The 3 were...ntbootmgr, ntload, & ntsvcmgr. I went into services on the computer and unless someone tells me otherwise, I was right to disable them. From searching around on the internet I find out that these three categories actually were the problem. I no longer get any prompts from norton. I have xp set up with 5 different accounts. I thought my problems were over. My account works fine but now when you go to the other accounts the windows installer starts up. The screen says nrtn anti virus does not support repair feature so uninstall & reinstall. When I click on the tray icon, I get a internet explorer script error. The error says automation server cant create object & asks if I want to continue running sripts on that page. I click yes. The computer tray icon now flashes the red exclamation mark and the outbreak alert comes up sayiny not protected against rapidly spreading out breaks. When you click on tray icon, the nrton anti virus screen comes up in refresh mode and wont fully load. I have 2 questions, with all this going on does this mean those accounts are not properly protected against viruses (I would think not), and is there a way I can fix this problem without reinstalling the norton for the 4th time. p.s. I have to apologise for the long drawn out post. I am a newbie at posting. I avoided the use of abreviations so whoever reads this fully understands my problem. If you are still awake after reading this, I promise to try to make future posts shorter. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated...thnx

Please Click here!, and follow the recommendations in the guide.

If you're still having trouble, We'll need you to use a free diagnostic tool, Hijack This. Follow the instructions in step five of this guide, and reply here with your log.

Most of what Hijack This lists lists will be harmless or even essential, DO NOT delete or modify anything yet! Someone will be along to tell you what steps to take after you post the contents of the scan results.

One thing I had forgot to mention when I had done my original post, is that the notn antivrus works on all the accounts when they are given administration rights. When they are given limited status, is when the norton gives trouble. Could someone please review my hjk logs and advise if anything can be done. I have also included a log form a scan done with ewido. thnx
