Please help. I am running Win98SE on my wifes computer. It has begun to get slow over a period of 2-6 hrs. If I restart it is back to normal. I have run ad-aware, spybot, and hijack this and nothing in the registry looks to me to be out of order in HKLM or HKCU software, microsoft, windows, currentversion, run and runonce. I have also purchased Mcafeevirus scan online and run several times, it finds nothing. I have included my latest Hijack this logfile because it looks like everyone else does that. Please help!! thanks, dbart

ps i put in a wireless hub and a belkin wireless card about the time this problem started. I am positive this problem is coincidental, but my wife is convinced i have screwed up her laptop and wants to go back to a wired connection.

pss also even with a fresh new start the audio(like when windows first opens) kind of "skips"

Hello and welcome

Your problem does not appear to be malware related. It sounds more like the CPU getting overheated to me. Perhaps try the hardware forum.

You do however have one entry in your HJT log in need of attention.

Here's the fix:

Rescan with HijackThis. Close all programmes leaving only HijackThis running. Place a checkmark or tick against the following:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ScanRegistry] c:\windows\scanregw.exe /autorun

Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

Reboot afterwards.

Good luck!
