Hi rocksurxxxx
Welcome to Geeks to go

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order in which they are mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

You have a CoolWebSearch infection.

Download CWShredder Here.

Update CWShredder
  • Open CWShredder and click I AGREE
  • Click Check For Update
  • Close CWShredder

Boot into Safe Mode:
Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

Now run CWShredder. Click I Agree, then Fix and then Next, let it fix everything it asks about.

Do you still use the Download Accelerator – DAP it is not technically malware, but it may include malware and allow it into your system. You can find safer alternatives here: http://www.spywarein...cat=dlman#dlman
Remove it in Add/Remove Programs and fix the items identified below.

Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://195.95.218.172/index.php
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://searchcentral...hp?v=4&aff=3148
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://195.95.218.172/index.php
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://195.95.218.172/index.php
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = http://195.95.218.172/index.php
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = http://195.95.218.172/index.php
O8 - Extra context menu item: &Download with &DAP - C:\ARCHIV~1\DAP\dapextie.htm
O8 - Extra context menu item: Download &all with DAP - C:\ARCHIV~1\DAP\dapextie2.htm
O16 - DPF: {14A3221B-1678-1982-A355-7263B1281987} - ms-its:mhtml:file://C:\foo.mht!http://82.179.166.13....chm::/file.exe
O16 - DPF: {1E1B286C-88FF-11D2-8D96-D7ACAC95951F} - http://66.194.67.102...g/bannerads.cab
O16 - DPF: {861FDA2A-2B57-4BDA-8B8B-305C9D5D8604} (_Multimedia Player) - http://stream.pussyh.../stream/mmp.cab

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked.

Please delete this folder (if present)

C:\ARCHIV~1

Folders and files with a tilde (~), means that there is a file/folder that starts with the six characters in front of the tilde, note that there may be spaces in the name. If there are more than one, please report them back and do not delete!

[/b]Please delete this file using Windows Explorer(if present):
Use windows search facility if you have trouble finding these files.

C:\foo.mht!http://82.179.166.13....chm::/file.exe

After that, Reboot.

Reboot your computer into normal windows.

If you would please, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log in this same topic, and we'll clean up what's left.

Hi Andy, thanks for your help.

Well, I did run CWShredder and finally I ahve this: CoolWebSearch was not found in your system.

I did remove DAP, I did run, fixed all the entries that you listed.

I did not find: C:\ARCHIV~1

I did not find: C:\foo.mht!http://82.179.166.13....chm::/file.exe

All that in safe mode, then I reboot in normal mode, but .... I STILL CAN SEE IN MY DESKTOP: YOUR SYSTEM IS INFECTED

How I can remove that????

I list my final HijackThis report:

Hi rocksurxxxx

Can you give any other details regarding the message on your screen, ie. is there a program name also shown with the message?

Also could you do the following for me.

Please run an on-line virus scan at Kaspersky OnLine Scan or if that doesnt work, you can use TrendMicro or BitDefender. (Please post the results of the scan(s) in your next reply)

Open HijackThis, click Config, click Misc Tools
Click "Open Uninstall Manager"
Click "Save List" (generates uninstall_list.txt)
Click Save, copy and paste the results in your next post.

Also post a new HJT log.

Hi rocksurxxxx

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order in which they are mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

Download smitRem.exe and save the file to your desktop.
Double click on the file to extract it to it's own folder on the desktop.

Place a shortcut to Panda ActiveScan on your desktop.

Please download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite here:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/

Please read Ewido Setup Instructions
Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

If you have not already installed Ad-Aware SE 1.06, follow these download and setup instructions, otherwise, check for updates:
Ad-Aware SE Setup
Don't run it yet!

Next, please reboot your computer in SafeMode by doing the following:
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.
Open the smitRem folder, then double click the RunThis.bat file to start the tool. Follow the prompts on screen.
Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.

The tool will create a log named smitfiles.txt in the root of your drive, eg; Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with all others requested in your next reply.

Open Ad-aware and do a full scan. Remove all it finds.

Run Ewido:
  • Click on scanner
  • Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
  • NOTE: During some scans with ewido it is finding cases of false positives.
  • You will need to step through the process of cleaning files one-by-one.
  • If ewido detects a file you KNOW to be legitimate, select none as the action.
  • DO NOT select "Perform action on all infections"
  • If you are unsure of any entry found select none for now.
  • When the scan is finished, click the Save report button at the bottom of the screen.
  • Save the report to your desktop
Close Ewido

Next go to Control Panel click Display > Desktop > Customize Desktop > Web > Uncheck "Security Info" if present.

Reboot back into Windows and click the Panda ActiveScan shortcut, then do a full system scan. Make sure the autoclean box is checked!
Save the scan log and post it along with a new HijackThis Log, the contents of the smitfiles.txt log and the Ewido Log by using Add Reply.
Let us know if any problems persist.

Please read HERE for information regarding file sharing programs, as some are bundled with spyware in them.

I have my desktop back, I can change my wallpapers and the message "YOUR SYSTEM IS INFECTED" has gone.

ActiveScan tells me I still have 2 files with virus, but ... THANK YOU MAN, YOU'RE GREAT, YOU DID IT!!!!!!!! :tazz:

Hi rocksurxxxx

Glad to hear your PC is running better :)

Can you tell me the name of the files that Active scan is picking up?

Also can you tell me the difference between "Limpio con backup" and "Limpio sin backup" :)

Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

O16 - DPF: {10D671B0-1254-4376-9348-590133D7B948} (InstallerAX Class) - http://foxmovies.a.c...installerAX.cab
O16 - DPF: {3E410F8E-7EDC-4E91-B7A8-BFA00E3803D2} (EROL v 4.0.15) - http://www.e-rol.com...s/EROLProj1.cab

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked.

If you would please, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log in this same topic, and let us know how your system's working. :)
