I imagine that Access is treating the & as an operator. To show the "and" symbol, you must treat it as text.
Try typing J "&" R or "J"&" & "&"R".

I tried to do that but it did not show up on the report.

When I type a symbol in the title box for example "j & r" the and sign would not appear in the text box only j r would be there. Is there any way to make the & sign stay with the j r rather than disapearing?
Can you tell me where you are trying to enter this (eg. Report Title when printed)?I tried to do that but it did not show up on the report.
