I was wondering if it was safe to update windows alot. because i hear from some of my friends that microsoft makes you download a file ( apparently microsoft couldent explain what the use of this file was for) that screws up your computer so u pay to get it fixed?

Total BS. If you DON'T update your computer you're going to have FAR more problems than if you do.
