While trying to upgrade from WIN 98 to WIN98SE, I receive the following error message at the very beginning of the install and cannot proceed any further:

create shortfile names with numeric tails in file name larger than 8 characters

I think this has something to do with the fact that I compressed my drive since I was badly in need of space.

Any ideas how I may 'create shortfile names with numeric tails in file name larger than 8 characters' ?
