This was the message i posted at "internet and browsers":

I've been trying to access a message board for 2 days now, but I always get a "The connection was refused when attempting to contact [website]" message. Or sometimes "operation timed out..." I assumed that the website i'm trying to access is currently down. But after googling "connection was refused", I think it's a common problem for firefox users. I tried accessing the website using IE, but I only got a cannot be displayed message. I'm thinking of downloading Opera (?) or Netscape, but I'll have to wait for your reply first if you'll recommend me doing so. Help!!

Then, Thatman instructed me to go here. Firstly, I ran all the softwares I've already downloaded from the "you must read this before..." post, but i'm still having the same problem.

BTW, I've already uninstalled and reinstalled firefox, but same thing happens. I've had someone check the website and it loaded fine, so i know the site is not down.

Hi,

Your HJT log is fine.

Any browser tries to connect a website and displays an error message when the website is not available for any reason. browsers will not wait for so much time before displaying the error message.

It could be because the server on which the web page is hosted is not responding or simply because the page doesnt exist. You could also be having an issue with your internet connection.

In your case, it seems to me that the server on which the wen page is hosted is simply not available. Thats the reason why Firefox and IE are both telling you that webpage is not available, albiet in different words.

There is nothing wrong with Firefox.
