Please download L2m9xfix here:

Save it to the desktop and run it. Extract the files, and then open the l2m9xfix folder you just created and run RunThis.bat.

A window will open, and your desktop will disappear, then reappear. Please be patient until the batch says it is completed.

Then please restart your computer, and post a new HijackThis log as well as the entire text of the log.txt file which should be in the same folder as RunThis.bat.

Thanks for the assist and my apoligies for the slow response.

By wierdness ... just to see if there is any exe file that may be causing the ultra slow boot and access to files. (for example = C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MPREXE.EXE ). I "google'd" the thing and I'm finding some conflicting ideas on what this is for.

It take an unusally long time to boot up. Even for a straight Pentium.

Your log is clean and the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MPREXE.EXE is a legit file,

Have you tried running an online virus scan ?

It take an unusally long time to boot up. Even for a straight Pentium.

Yup ..... online scan is clean.

According to the owner it's been getting progressivly slower. I did run some stuff prior to the forum contact and cleaned out some trash.

I'm thinking it's the combination of TSR's (Spyware Guard, Nortons, Trojan Hunter, etc.....). I don't want to go to extreme since it is his equipment and not mine.

But as far as the operation goes, I'm really not seeing any issues with the machine.

I just wanted to check it and make sure all was good before I delivered it back to him.
