Thank God I found this place...:tazz:

I just got these nice little additions to my computer and would love to try to find a way to get them off.

WinAntiSpyware
WinFixer

I've tried to delete them off my desktop but they keep coming back...ran Adaware and Spybot and they won't take them off either...I think I have some others that won't come off, but I don't know if they post with this logfile...I can't even see what should be deleted from the log.

Welcome bryan3375 to Geeks to Go!

Thank you for the warm introduction, we're happy to be of service.

BEFORE BEGINNING, Please read completely through the instructions below and download the files from the links provided. You may want to save or print out these instructions for easier reference.

First, download Ewido Security Suite.

Next, download Lavasoft's Ad-Aware and the VX2 Cleaner Plug-in. Install Ad-Aware using the default options, then install vx2cleaner_inst.exe, taking all the defaults there as well.

Before running the VX2 Cleaner, make sure other anti-virus or anti-spyware applications are closed

Run Ad-Aware, update to the latest definitions, then click on Add-ons in the lefthand column.
Select VX2 Cleaner V2.0 and click Run Tool. Click "OK", then, if something is found, click "Clean" as in the directions given. Click "Close", and exit Ad-Aware.

Reboot your PC and run Ad-Aware again. This time, click on the Start button in Ad-Aware, select "Perform smart system scan" and click Next. Once the scan finishes, click "Next" again. Select all objects found (right click anywhere in the list of found objects and click "Select All Objects"). Click "Next" one more time, then "OK" to confirm the removal.

You will be prompted to set Ad-Aware to run on reboot, click "OK". Exit Ad-Aware and restart your PC once again.

When Ad-Aware starts up, click on "Start", then "Next". Follow the steps above if anything is found, or click "Finish", then exit Ad-Aware.

For a final cleanup, please install and run Ewido.
  • When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
  • When you run ewido for the first time, you may get a warning "Database could not be found!". Click OK. We will fix this in a moment.
  • From the main ewido screen, click on update in the left menu, then click the Start update button.
  • After the update finishes (the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful")
  • Click on the Scanner button in the left menu, then click on Complete System Scan. This scan can take quite a while to run.
  • If ewido finds anything, it will pop up a notification. We have been finding some cases of false positives with the new version of Ewido, so we need to step through the fixes one-by-one. If Ewido finds something that you KNOW is legitimate (for example, parts of AVG Antivirus, pcAnywhere and the game "Risk" have been flagged), select "none" as the action. DO NOT check "Perform action with all infections". If you are unsure of an entry, select "none" for the time being. I'll see that in the log you will post later and let you know if ewido needs to be run again.
  • When the scan finishes, click on "Save Report". This will create a text file. Make sure you know where to find this file again.
***

Please finish up by rebooting your system once more, and posting a new HijackThis log and the log from the Ewido scan.

We still need to take on winfixer, but let's see if the others are gone now.

q,

Thanks for getting me started on this...you...are...THE BOMB!...:tazz:

Ok...I did as you asked...looks like it took care of quite a bit of stuff...but the WinAnti stuff seems to really be dug in...I had a pop-up that said an entire archive had it embedded and asked me if I wanted to just delete the whole thing which I did...I saved the pop-up in case it held any info that you might need...here's the log file...

I'd like to see the Ewido log too.

Download the Killbox.
Unzip it to the desktop

Double-click Killbox.exe to run it.

Select "Delete on Reboot".
Place the following line (complete path) in bold in the "Full Path of File to Delete" box in Killbox:
C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\UWAS5LP_0001_0811NetInstaller.exe
c:\windows\system32\mdreykkb.exe
C:\Program Files\winupdate\winupdate.exe
Put a mark next to "Delete on Reboot"
Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt.
If your computer does not restart automatically, please restart it manually.

***

Please download VundoFix.zip to your desktop.
  • Double-click VundoFix.zip and extract it to your C:\ directory.
  • Copy the instructions below and paste them into Notepad for reference.
    • All other windows need to be closed while doing this fix!
  • Navigate to the new folder C:\VundoFix
  • Double click on KillVundo.bat
    • When it starts running it will tell you that you need an active internet connection then ask you to press any key once you do.
  • Please press any key to continue.
  • Wait for HiJackThis to open.
  • When HiJackThis opens, click Do a system scan only. Place a check next to the following items, if found:
    O2 - BHO: MSEvents Object - {827DC836-DD9F-4A68-A602-5812EB50A834} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\awvvw.dll

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AlcxMonitor] ALCXMNTR.EXE

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MDREYKKB] c:\windows\system32\mdreykkb.exe /install

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [winupdate] C:\Program Files\winupdate\winupdate.exe /auto

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NI.UWAS5LP_0001_0811] "C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\UWAS5LP_0001_0811NetInstaller.exe"

    O20 - Winlogon Notify: awvvw - C:\WINDOWS\system32\awvvw.dll
  • Once they all have a check next to them, click the FIX CHECKED button, then close HiJackThis.
You will once again be prompted to press any key. Upon doing so this time you will receive a "Blue Screen Of Death". Don't worry, this is normal! Let the computer reboot. If it doesn't boot straight to windows, manually turn the computer off and then back on.

Once the computer is rebooted:

Make sure all hidden files are showing:* Click Start.
* Open My Computer.
* Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
* Select the View Tab.
* Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
* Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
* Click Yes to confirm.
* Click OK.
Open Windows Explorer.
Move to this folder:
C:\WINDOWS\System32
Remove all files named:
awvvw
wvvwa

Please post a new HiJackThis log as well as the contents of vundofix.txt which can be found in this folder: C:\VundoFix
Don't forget to post me the Ewido log too.

That's the Ewido log, thank you for that.

I would also like to see the vundofix.txt and a fresh HijackThis log after a reboot.

EDIT:
As there has been no reply from the original poster for more than two weeks this topic is now closed.

If you are the original poster and still need assistance, please send me a PM.
