Thanks for everything. The computer is running very nicely, and boots up as fast as it is supposed to now! A donation is order this evening. Thank you.

I am however having problems doing the defrag you suggested. When I defragged a few days ago I had 18% space on my 80 gig drive. When I tried today I had 12%, even though lots of files had been deleted during this fix.

So, deleted the MSOffice files from my desktop, ran Clean Me again and found I now had 11% free! XP's defrag sez it needs at least 15% space to do a proper defrag so I'm perplexed.

I don't know if I should take this issue into another forum, but I did a file size search and the memory.dmp file is a whopping 523,592KB. Can this be cleaned, and are there any other 'trimming' acts I can undertake?

Because I'm a photographer I have around 22 gigs worth of images on here, but how the remaining 44 gigs can be taken up with programs I just don't know!

Yikes. Not sure what to tell you there. The only thing I know how to do in that area is takes things out of startup to make it boot up faster and save resources, but I think you know how to do that too....lol

I would suggest that you post in the XP part of our forum.

If no one gets to you, drop me a PM and I will make sure someone gets it.

Best of luck John.

Sure we will get that little bugger!

Please download the Killbox.

Please run Killbox.
  • Select "Delete on Reboot".
  • Copy the file names below to the clipboard by highlighting them and pressing Control-C:

    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\vtstt.dll

  • Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose "Paste from Clipboard".
  • Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt.

If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run TheKillbox, click here to download and run missingfilesetup.exe. Then try TheKillbox again..
  • Let the system reboot.
