Problem with MSN Messenger

Yesterday I had a lot of trouble signing into MSN Messenger.

So when I finally came online I said 'hi' to my friend but they said I wasn't online to them.

Then someone advised me to go on WebMessenger with another account and add myself.
I then went online on my normal MSN but I didnt appear online on WebMessenger... :)

Basically, I go online but my contacts to dont see me as online. :tazz:

Please help?

is your status set to "appear offline"?

No because if I was set to 'Appear Offline' I wouldn't be able to talk to people as MSN would tell me to go online to talk to them.
