I am inprocess of self building a pc system, the question i have is will a new motherboard---gigabyte tryton k7 with amd chipset recognise and load windows xp on my old hard drive ?

it is a samsung 4002h ..currently it is/was part of pc world advent 3000 serries.

Shouldn't be any problem. Be sure to update your motherboard's chipset driver when finished installing. This can usually be found at the mfg's website (Gigabyte: http://tw.giga-byte.com/Default.htm), or directly from the chipset mfg (VIA: http://www.viaarena.com/?PageID=300)
