I am attempting this fix this hung of junk that my friend kindly threw at me. When I initially loaded the PC it had a hard time going though post and would hang detecting the hard drives. So following the problem solving technics I learnt I unpluged everything exect the ram and cpu (onboard video). Then I rebooted the system to see the famous "Please insert disk" prompt and it would hang again attempting to detect the drives. Upon entering the cmos/bios I noted that the date was reset and such, only to shrug it off thinking it was just unpluged for a while. Well my problem is that it hangs on the drive check, drive or no drive, then breaks. Any idea's or heard anything like this before?

Currently experiencing a similar problem. It apparently has something to do with the bios. On my cousin's computer (HP Pavillion xt963), The bios requests a password. Problem is, that there was no password ever set in the first place. also, sometimes it will stop and give me an "Operating system not found" message. I'm currently trying to find a compatible bios to flash the old one with. Any solutions?
