SLOOOW Internet connection [CLOSED]

Hi,I am having major problems with my internet connection. It took me about 5 minutes just to get to this page! When I log on to IE, it's very slow. When I navigate to different pages, it takes forever and then I finally get a DNS server error. I can go to some pages, but if I click on something, it will take forever to load and then I will get an error. If I hit the back arrow, it will come up again and I have to retry.

I received a yupdater.exe error earlier, but I just deleted Yahoo IM to alleviate that problem. That didn't help my slow connection though! I have run all the spyware programs etc to no avail!

Make sure to close any open browsers. Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any):

N3 - Netscape 7: user_pref("browser.search.defaultengine", "engine://C%3A%5CProgram%20Files%5CNetscape%5CNetscape%5Csearchplugins%5CSBWeb_01.src"); (C:\Documents and Settings\Sami\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\default\nk7egbwq.slt\prefs.js)

See if this will fix up the internet problem:

Download WinsockFix http://www.greyknigh.../WinsockFix.zip and unzip it. Then double click on WinsockFix.exe to run it.

Hi, Thanks for responding so quickly! It has gotten better, but still slow. When I type in an address, it sits forever before loading. This is in Netscape as well as IE.

These shouldn't be causing the problems, but let's try disabling some programs from startup. Check and fix these in HijackThis:

Restart. Problem still there?

If so, did you make any setting changes or install anything new prior to this problem? Do you have a firewall for McAfee that could be causing the problem? Maybe try disabling it for a minute just to verify that it's not the problem.

If that still doesn't do the job, check with your internet service provider to make sure that it's not a problem on their end.
