Hello there
Basically I need to sort out the family computer before i go off to university (taking my new one)... Unfortunately the PC i'm leaving behind has taken a bit of a battering over the years and whenever I go to start it up and the message "missing boot.ini file" appears. I've looked up how to sort the problem and the advice i get is "use the recovery console" except i really have no idea how to do this :tazz: If someone could help me, it would be very much appreciated.

Also.. a quick note.. the computer does start up if i put a CD in it... any CD seems to do? Not sure if this is of any help.

Thanking you in advance!

Welcome to G2G, my name is Freddie.

Do you still have your windows 2000 disc? Try repairing it with your disc.

Well Straylight...

HERE is an overview of the recovery console. If you have the CD using the repair functionality should get you up and running. If you continue to have problems please post back.
