hi, i'm studying C language in school, and i need to use the program "Turbo C".
I tried downloading it from the internet, but even from 2 different downloads i got an error while activating the "install.exe" file...
the error is:

C:\TURBOC~1\Disk1\INSTALL.EXE
C:\PROGRA~1\Symantec\S32EVNT1.DLL. An Installable Virtual Device Driver failed Dll initializaion.
Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.

Anyone know what the problem is? :tazz:

P.S.
(It gives me an option in the error screen to 'Close' or 'Ignore', is choosing 'Ignore' gonna help?)

This error is caused if you have not uninstalled a Norton product propely.
Did you have any Norton\Symantec Product previously installed and now you have uninsatalled it.
If so, follow the instructions in the following thread:
http://www.geekstogo...are-t43188.html, to uninstall the Norton product propely.

Hey, thnx for replying.
I went to the SymNRT link, and it told to download the SymNRT.exe file, they gave a link but it does'nt work, so i can't download symNRT.exe...!

Maybe the link will work later or somthing, but in the meantime do you have some source of downloading it? cause i can't find it on google or anything.

tnx

Which Norton product did you have installed?

Download and run XPFix.exe from the following page and try again:
http://www.visualtou...ads/default.asp

Also follow the steps in paragraph 2 on following page:
http://ce.aut.ac.ir/...XP.htm#S32EVNT1

i think maybe if you know somewhere where i can dl a ver. of the SymNRT file that is working, it will solve the problem.

Okay, i followed the section 2 of the link you gave me, and deleted the
S32EVNT1.DLL file from the registry, but the thing is I deleted it from everywhere it was in... meaning not only in one place where i was supposed to, so now instead of the old error, i have a new error, probably cause i deleted a file called "S32EVNT1.DLL" in the VirtualDeviceDrivers registry key...

C:\TURBOC~1\Disk1\INSTALL.EXE
SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\VirtualDeviceDrivers. VDD.
Virtual Device Driver format in the registry is invalid.
Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.

Is this solvable??

Please Reformat your drive, dont tell me that you cant, back up your files and do it,
when it becomes the installing compiler first instlall your os, upgrade it than install you compiler and install webserver(this is so picky about security systems)whaever you going to use, and than install your firewall, antivirus, ids, dmz and so on....

this is this much easy and so healty compiler installation,

take care

actually, i have a better idea, i think if i can restore my registry to an earlier state, i'll be able to only delete the file i need and problem solved..

can anyone instruct me on how to restore my reg? (i think i did it before and it involved a system restore)

btw, system restore only "restarts" your C drive, my D drive won't be touched right? :S
