when logging in winxp

i get this message:

wich basically says

Lsass.exe - unable to locate components
This application has failed to start because

[ok]

i really dont want to format and reinstall everything on that computer....

-------

Safe mode also does not work

------

well, tried to fix windows via CD, basically it reinstalls itself over the older one

when win got to the instalation point, the same message apeared :tazz:

so now, i cant run the repair option again, since the 1st one did not finish... think it was the worm thingy, and i do need to re-install....

if i hook the HD to my pc, will it get infected if it is? there must be a way to back up those files

;)
