I have a nasty virus that just keeps coming back. I have been working on this for days, and trying various tactics to resolve the problems and flush out the nasty files.

Much of my problem seems to stem from Adware.Livechat, but I seem to have others as well. I followed the removal sequence on Symanted site for fixing livechat by unselecting system restore, running scans, deleting unwanted files and then rebooting, but it still keeps coming back.

I have also found, with the use of ewido, and others recommended in your "Prior to posting a logfile"

Adware.Searchtoolbar.100
Spyware.Msnagent
Spyware.Findspy

Files that get quarantined but seem to return are:

bndmod.exe
rdsndin.exe
himicro.exe
ntfsnlpa.exe

I've done the entire prcedures requested in the "before you post a Hijackthis logfile" and I'm semi-computer literate, so I'm hoping you can help me fix this. I've backed up all my important files.

Here's the Hijack log and thanks in advance for any and all help!!

Download and save backlight to your desktop. Doubleclick blbeta.exe, accept the agreement, leave [X]scan through Windows Explorer checked, click scan > next.

You'll see a list of all the items it found. There will also be a log on your desktop with the name fsbl.xxxxxxx.log (where xxxxxxx represents numbers). The application finds both bad files and legitimate ones such as "wbemtest.exe", so don't choose the rename option yet! Copy and paste the log it generated in your next reply.

Hello,

Here is the logfile from the F-protect scan. I have been working on this problem for the last week, and on Friday I think I may have cleaned things up pretty well. Not sure, but the false Spyware balloons have stopped.

Here's the log. Thanks for your help.

That is clean but you still have some remnants of the infection. Make sure that you have no browser windows open as this could prevent the fix from working properly. Open HijackThis, scan and when complete, remove the following entries by checking the box to the left and clicking 'fixed checked':

R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {C2EBDC84-B340-924B-341A-1FC99F1F0794} - forces_elite.dll (file missing)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [utsgmon] CToolBar.exe

Exit HijackThis when done. Click here to download hclean.zip. Extract hclean.reg from the zip file and save it to the desktop. When done double-click the hclean.reg, when asked to merge say yes.

Download and save FindT to your desktop. Extract the files inside to the root drive (C:\). Open the FindT folder and doubleclick runthis.bat. You'll get a log that will be saved in the same folder. Post the log FindT created and a new HJT log.

Hello. Okay I followed your directions.

One problem, everything worked except the last step. I tried to get the "FindT" from the pointer you gave me, but I got this message in return.

findT is no longer avaiable or up to date, please ask your helper to check here
http://forums.subrat...?showtopic=5525

The other steps all worked. Here is the new Hijack this file. (there wasn't a br0ken finle found or a SetupExeDll found with Hijackthis. but the others were found and deleted with Hijackthis. The hclean.reg seemed to work.

Yes, looks a lot better. Just one more to remove - with only HJT running, have it fix:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [hwiper.exe] C:\WINDOWS\System32\hwiper.exe

Reboot and post a final log.
