internet connection wont be its best

ok i try to get on the internet using my 56k modem and the cannection is sometimes like 33.2kbps and even 22kbs (took forever for this page to load) i have tryed almost everything for this problem can anybody help me? i am running windows xp sp1 pro

Hi. The limiting factors on a dial up connection is usually the line quality and distance from the wire center (telephone company). If you have your modem set up properly and your ISP supports 56 K dialup, the only thing in between is your telephone company. You could call your telco and complain. They may or may not be willing to consider this a valid trouble. By the way, even under ideal circumstances, you will likely never achieve 56K on any dial up connection. In the rare instances when my cable modem is down, and I use dial up to check my ISP to find out why....The best I have ever gotten is approx 44 - 46k (not bad really....)
