Happy Holidays!

I posted a problem regarding my other computer a couple days ago and didn't get the opportunity to let some one look at my files for help and just brought it to a shop that specializes in spyware and viruses.

My laptop is also acting up and I'm going to give it more of go on my own...with your much appreciated help :tazz:

I'm using aol and IE...and yes, I am switching to firefox today. After a minute or two IE will shut down saying" IE has encountered a problem and needs to close" and does..

also as soon as I start the computer up a popup says.."bn2.smart2com.net" is trying to access the internet do you wish to connect?...I never do, for fear of what can of worms (no pun intended) will open up. It aslo says "bn2-domain.net", "bn2-domain3.net" sometimes.

I followed the steps in the "read this first" Hijackthis folder. and I have run the HT scan.. here are the results:

Hi anotherdoyle

How do I boot into "Safe" mode?

Be sure you're able to view hidden files and folders

(1) Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked .

O2 - BHO: msyuxvoc - {4B8BE10A-6BE6-F189-9EDA-5E75AE4F9F9F} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\msyuxvoc.dll
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [regsrv32.exe] regsrv32.exe
O4 - Startup: PowerReg Scheduler.exe

O16 - DPF: {41F17733-B041-4099-A042-B518BB6A408C} - http://a1540.g.akama...meInstaller.exe

Reboot Into safemode

Please delete the following file .

C:\WINDOWS\System32\ msyuxvoc.dll<-This file .

Reboot your pc into normal mode

If you would please, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log in this same topic, and let us know how your system's working. ;)

Hi KC, Thanks for your help!

I ran Hijackthis...scanned and "fixed checked"...

rebooted in safe mode and tried to delete the file "msyuxvoc.dll" file but an error pop came up..."cannot delete "msyuxvoc.dll" It is being used by another person or program."

I scanned again and here is my new logfile.

Hi anotherdoyle

1. Please click on start Start then Run Menu.

2. Type in: c:/windows/system32/regsvr32.exe /u msyuxvoc.dll EXACTLY as it's seen

3. You should get a system message saying that msyuxvoc.dll has be unregistered

Copy and paste the following file into the run box then press OK.

c:/windows/system32/regsvr32.exe /u msyuxvoc.dll

Hi anotherdoyle

We can definitely help you, but first you need to help us. The first step in this process is to apply Service Pack 1a for Windows XP. Without this update, you're wide open to re-infection, and we're both just wasting our time.
Apply the update, reboot, and post a fresh Hijack This log.

Hi KC,

I haven't been able to make enough room on my laptop for the XP service pack...only a 4 gig HD :tazz:

anyway...as soon as I get my other PC back (hopefully tommorrow) I can move needed files to that system and get this one straightened out.

Please excuse the delay, I'll be back as soon as I load the service pack you specified.

Thanks so much for your help!
