I bought Norton Antivirus from a friend who was unable to install it because of a virus. When I installed it, I got the message "Norton Antivirus has encountered an internal program error. Uninstall and re-install Norton Antivirus" Error # 3030.26. I asked her if she had already used the key number and she had not. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times and have gone to Norton's automated support and followed their directions to no avail. What does this error mean and how do I take care of it?

Have you ever had any version of Norton Antivirus Installed on this machine before?

Did you allow the preinstallation virus scan to complete before installaing?

No, I have never had any Norton on my machine and I did let the preinstallation scan run. It said it found one virus and I thought it had taken care of it. Thanks for any info.

Strange. I also can't find this error in Symantec's knowledge base. Sounds like it may just be a defective installation CD.
