DVD Decoder

I recently re-installed XP Home into my son's compaq presario laptop. Now, it won't play DVD and we get a message that there is no decoder. Any suggestions?

The reason that you are getting this error is that you need to install the DVD software that came with the laptop. It should be with the bundle of CDs that came with the laptop. Hope that is helps.
