Wondering if anyone can help me out here, my computer recently has been freezing up on me. I thought at first it was while I was just playing one of my online games, but it will freeze itself even if I just let it sit there. I'm running windows xp, and I generally get a good hour or two before it dies on me. I've seen a number of issues while restarting also, first was my second harddrive tends to not show up, and my computer recognized new hardware (the name was odd, lots of 111!!!11!! at the end of it is all i remember). I restarted again, and second harddrive showed up like normal, so I got online and downloaded AVG free edition, ran that. Didn't solve my freezing problems. So then I ran spybot-search and destroy, found nothing. Computer continued to freeze up. I restarted it later, and windows ran a self repair before booting up, and when it loaded I got the message that windows had recovered from a serious problem. So I hoped again that it was fixed, until 3:30 am it froze up again. Now I'm lost without a clue to why it freeze (when the problem first started, my computer made sounds like it was rebooting over and over, and then it restarted on its own, but its only done that once). I'm just going to assume that its a virus, sense AVG found a bunch of crap when I first ran it, but I honestly have no idea (why I'm here!)
