Hi,
My Windows ME desktop is infected with Adware. I have located
the "area" process under the folder Program Files/uthm
I tried to destroy it by following your instructions but it is
still alive: I deleted the folder uthm (containing area.exe)
while in safe mode, but when i reboot in normal mode
the uthm folder appears again and area is again in the running
processes. Maybe there is something else that i need to kill?
I attach the logfile.
I ran Ad-aware but (after 30' of scanning and deleting) uthm
was still there and area.exe was still running.
I ran Cleanup but, again, the folder uthm and the process area.exe
keep reappearing every time i reboot.
Hijackthis's "fixchecked" closes the area.exe process, and i can
manually remove the folder "uthm", but, again, when i reboot both
will appear again in the same place (under Program Files and in the
list of running processes).
Any advice on how to get rid of this adware is welcome.
