• Download VX2Finder.
• Double-click on VX2Finder.exe.
• Click "Restore Policy".
• In the File menu click "Exit".
• Double-click on KillBox.exe.
• In the File menu click "Delete all Dummy files".
• In the Tools menu click "Delete Temp Files".
• Choose "Standard File Kill" if not already selected.
• Paste these files one by one into the top "Full Path of File to Delete" box.
  • C:\RECYCLER\desktop.ini
  • C:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\etc\HOSTS
• Click the "Delete File" button which looks like a stop sign.
• Click "Yes" at the Confirm Delete prompt.
• It should give you a successful "File was deleted" prompt for each one.

Ok, here's a good start, I'm still questionable about some of this, but lets start with this:

Please Download LSPFix from http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm and Run the Program. Disconnect from the Internet and close all Internet Explorer Windows. Check the "I know what I'm doing" Button and remove all traces of calsp.dll. Reboot.

You may wish to print out a copy of these instructions to follow while you complete this procedure.
Please save Hijack This in a permanent folder (i.e. C:\HJT). This ensures backups are saved and accessible.
Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.

Ho ho ho. This is looking pretty good. You had recommended some HJT items for removal that I recognized and needed so kept those (just two of them) but got rid of the rest. Manually pulled the Guard.tmp file - it had dummy text in it from KillBox.

Ran both a HJT log and a FindIt (both from early this am) - they are listed below...

Ho ho ho. This is looking pretty good. You had recommended some HJT items for removal that I recognized and needed so kept those (just two of them) but got rid of the rest. Manually pulled the Guard.tmp file - it had dummy text in it from KillBox.

Looks very good I must say Try rebooting into safe mode and removing the following entries.

O4 - Global Startup: strings.exe

Next look for the file strings.exe and try to delete it. Reboot normally and post fresh Hijack This log. The output.txt is clear. How is your system running so far?

These next two steps are optional, but will provide the greatest protection.
1. Use ANY browser besides Internet Explorer, almost every exploit is crafted to take advantage of an IE weakness. We usually recommend FireFox .
2. Install Sun's Java. It's much more secure than Microsoft's Java Virtual Machine .

It's okay to delete the Hijack This folder if everything is working okay.

After doing all these, your system will be thoroughly protected from future threats.
