Hi
I recently unistalled avg anti virus and whenever i startup my computer i get this message:

"Cannot find a device file that may be needed to run windows or a windows application.

The windows registry or SYSTEM.INI file refers to this device file, but the device file no longer exists.

If you deleted this program on purpose, try uninstalling the associated application using the uninstall or setup program.

If you still want to use the application associated with this device file, try reinstalling that application to replace the missing file.

C:/PROGRA~1/GRISOFT/AVGFRE`/AVGCORE.VXD

Press a key to continue"

And the same message comes uptwo times more except the directory "C:/PROGRA~1/GRISOFT/AVGFRE`/AVGCORE.VXD" is replaced with
"C:/PROGRA~1/GRISOFT/AVGFRE`/AVG7RS.VXD"
"C:/PROGRA~1/GRISOFT/AVGFRE`/AVGTDI.VXD"

Any suggestions what of what i should do??

Howdy:

Go into msconfig and click on the System.ini tab.. Remove all referneces to AVG (those files in question).. save and okay out.. reboot..

Now, go into regedit and do a search for those particular files as well.. remove any found (remember to backup your Registry first)..
