Ok I have a laptop, with Windows XP.

First, I tried to download Spybot search and destroy's Updates, and after each update gets downloaded, it says "!!Badchecksum!!" next too, lets say "detection rules"

Second after i used AD-AWARE, and BHODemon, I decided to use CleanUp! 4.0

After the clean up, i got this message:

"Files that are required for Windows to run properly have been replaced by unrecognized versions. To maintain system stability, Windows must restore the original versions of these files. Insert Windows XP Professional Service Pack 1 CD now."

I'm just going to press cancel, and if anyone knows whats going on, post. I'll greatly appreciate it!!!

If theres anymore information you need, let me know what it is specifically.

Thank You

Ok, something did happen... I can't access my control panel. every time i click on it From the start menu, all the icons on my desktop vanish for a second, showing only my wallpaper, and then every thing comes back as if i clicked on nothing...

Is there a way to retrieve files that CleanUp! deleted? and files that Ad-Aware deleted? Since these are the only two main programs I used before the errors began.

If anything, I am assuming that some kind of virus or spyware took some system files as hosts, and when the malware got deleted, it took the host files with them...

OR these spyware removal can't tell the difference between malware and regular ware..

beats me!!!

what to do what to do

You can look in quarantine in ad-aware se, there is a padlock symbol

Look for a similar function in clean up

You can borrow a same version XP CD to run sfc /scannow

Buying an XP CD would be a good long term move

clean up doesnt seem to have a similar function,

I restored the quarentine list and all the spyware that was deleted came back,

I even tried restoring, which was worse because i finally got to download the spybot S&D detection rules, but when i restored the pc back to an early point, spybot got deleted, now im getting the bad checksum message again..

this is frustrating..

oh and my control panel is still unaccessable..

I can run some of the control panel programs through Start >> Run

but it's just too much memorizing.

The Malware Team will deal with this

Please go here:

http://www.geekstogo..._Log-t2852.html

Run all the programmes as advised then post a current Hijack This Log in a new topic in the Malware Forum

If you are unable to run any of the programmes, ask for advice in the Malware Forum

I put this as it will be best to remove everything which shouldn't be there
