2 days ago, aol just started working really slowly, kept not responding and kept freezing my computer. now, i havn't ran your anti-virus/ pest patrols due to the fact that i have dial up and itll take me days. i have however ran the ones that are already on my computer. i've cleaned my desk top, i've reinstalled aol. i just dont know what else to do. is it my computer or is it aol?

Aol is poor. It is notoriously known to be slow thanks to its inbulit broswer and annoying features which nobody needs. If you've only just started using it recently, it will hang and take up lots of CPU as it keeps sending data to your computer to update its features like the IM service. I use to use AOL myself, it went swimmingly for a while, then 3 months later, it was so slow, it took me 30 mins to write a short email as well as the inbuilt browser taking 5 mins to load up before I could do anything!

Most common thing to do is to run Defrag to speed up computer speed. Also, check you have sufficient disk space to run programs.

Download Adaware and search and destroy to check for spyware/malware and anti-virus scans (with updates).

If no joy, try a System Restore to before the problem began. Start> All Programs> Accessories> SR
