My computer freezes up at times it shouldn't. Such as installation, or even watching a movie. I do not see how this issue involves temperature as I have 5 fans in my computer. I also have 512 mb of RAM so I don't believe this is the problem either.

Here is the log...

Hi Apostle :tazz:

Ok interesting, lets see what we can do to get around that.

Can you tell me exactly what screen it freezes on? Can you describe it in detail.

And lets try to get into your machine a different way shall we.

# As the computer restarts, watch for the message For troubleshooting and advanced startup options for Windows 2000, press F8 at the bottom of the screen.

# Press F8 before the message clears the screen.

# From the Windows Start-up menu, type the number for the Safe Mode option.

# Wait for your desktop to appear.

Once you are at that point in safe mode, can you send me another hijack log please. And since you seem to be connected to the net, how are you connecting? A freinds machine?

A friend's machine yes. I may be able to send a log later today. I'll have to see. I am sorry if it seems I am biding my time.

No probs :tazz:

Just keep in some sort of contact if you will, after 7 days these threads are considered dead, and will be closed, so just keep that in mind.

Hello again :tazz:

That log is just to old its over two weeks and things may have changed alot in those passed days.

By looking at that log by itself it does'nt look that bad, can you tell in detail what the problem is, other than freezing?

Like what exactly happens

Time
Date it started
Have you installed any new hardware or software

That kind of thing be very descriptive, the more info i have the better the chance of this getting sorted out.

Well your welcome but we never did anything, other than ask a few questions.

But anyhow enjoy the format, there nothing like a nice fresh format once you have had a infected machine.

I usually post this when i am finished doing a cleaning of a machine, but wil post it here so you can start to protect your self right away.

I will just give you a few ideas on how to stay safe out there. Best of all these programs are all readily available on the net for free :tazz:

To reduce the potential for spyware infection in the future, I strongly recommend installing SpywareBlaster and SpyWareGuard.

SpywareBlaster and SpywareGuard are by JavaCool and both are free programs. SpywareBlaster will prevent spyware from being installed and consumes no system resources. SpywareGuard offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts.

More info and download is available at:

Spyware Blaster Spyware Guard

Might I suggest the following Free Spyware programs for added security, you can download them at the following links. These programs work great for detection:

Ad-aware SE--Adaware Tutorial

Spybot S&D--Spybot Tutorial

Antiviruses play an important role in keeping your computer safe and worry free while using the net. *NOTE* Only one antivirus must be allowed to run on your computer, as having two or more running can and will cause conflicts.

AVG Avast

Firewalls are also a must in any good prevention :

Zone Alarm Sygate Kerio

There are different browsers available on the net, other than Internet Explorer, we believe!! these are better for security purposes :

Firefox Opera

You must stay on top of your updates at all times, for the above mentioned applications.

It is vitally important to stay on top of your critical updates provided by microsoft.

This can be accessed by going to Windows Updates and following the prompts.

To add to the performance of your computer, i suggest a weekly maintenance program. Run this tool. Ccleaner

Lastly a second opinion on the Antivirus that you have chosen. I suggest running these online virus scans periodically, just to make sure that the av is doing a proper job, of keeping you safe :

Rav Online Scan Housecall Online Scan Panda Activescan

Housecall Java Online Scan<---For those who use Firefox, or opera.

And finally a little Posted Image How did I get infected in the first place ? (by Mr. Tony Klein and dvk01)

Good luck and safe surfing :)
