hopefully someone can help. I saw another thread with a solution, but I wasn't sure if they're specific to the computer because of what files are infected.

I should note I'm on a Vaio Notebook on XP. And I use Firefox, not IE.

I'm also not sure how to re-start in safe mode, because holding the buttons down as I would on a regular computer never works on this one.

I think I fixed it myself. I just ran Spybot in safe mode and then in normal mode and I haven't had a problem since.
