EDIT: i just solved it myself i went to the regional language settings and clicked details and it was on US so i changed to UK and its ok now. Anyway now i have posted my specs do you have any reccomendations on what i should improve to my pc?

Glad you got the keyboard working (Good call, 1069!)

How's the machine seem to be running? General Maintenance would include such things as running Disk Cleanup and Disk Defragmenter (found under System Tools) You might also check out EZ XP Tweaks...

that link doesnt work and i often do disk cleanup but hardly ever disk defreagmenter so im going to do that son

oh yeh i have basically been through all of them before but thanks do you know of any other good tips or any upgrades. im thinking of getting more ram, another 512MB

About the only tips I can give you is to stay on top of the malware and virus threats and keep protection updated.

Another 512 Megs of RAM will give you a noticeable difference in the way your machine runs.
